The ORT JUMP Mentoring Programme has launched this year with its highest ever volume of student applications from our 12 partner schools and we’re delighted that we have been able to expand the programme to include Menorah High School.
To meet this increase in demand, the team have reached out to professionals from a wide range of careers to join the ORT JUMP mentor community. As the world ‘follows the science’ to get through the pandemic, we’ve been delighted to see an increase in interest for mentors in STEM careers such as scientific research and engineering.
While we continue to match over 300 students to mentors, those already paired have begun scheduling their first virtual meetings and we have already received fantastic feedback from those who have connected for their introductory Zooms.
All students will ‘meet’ with their mentors four times over the course of the academic year to discuss pathways into their career, receive feedback on their CVs and gain insight into working in their chosen industry. In the Spring, they will submit an assignment about their ORT JUMP experience and on completion of the programme, will attend a graduation ceremony in July.
Following on from the success of our webinar series over the summer, we’re busy planning several expert-led careers evenings for 2021. We’re also very excited to be launching three brand new projects which we’ll begin piloting in the new year.
We can’t wait to watch our students’ self-belief and enthusiasm grow as they explore their chosen careers with our incredible mentors.
