Over 200 guests attended the ORT UK Annual Dinner 2022, raising vital funds to help students across the globe to Face The Future.
The event took place at Nobu Hotel, London Portman Square. ORT UK chair Annette Kurer, opened proceedings, with the first of two ORT Ukraine in Crisis appeal films, highlighting the terrifying situation faced by our Ukrainian community when the war began and ORT’s immediate response.
ORT UK CEO, Dan Rickman, introduced the second appeal film, exploring the ways in which ORT supported the 8000 students, staff and families, whose lives have been thrown into turmoil. From providing hot meals, medicine, shelter and financial assistance, to resettling families in surrounding countries and Israel, ORT has been there and continues to be there, every step of the way. Education remains a top priority and lessons are offered either in person, online or in alternative ORT schools abroad, ensuring students are preparing for their future, wherever they are currently living.
During the evening, we also heard from The ORT JUMP Programme mentor and NXT participant Adam Aloof and his former mentee, Yasmine Davidi, who both shared their highly positive experiences of our current UK projects.
Next, a historic first ORT UK toast to King Charles III, led by trustee Roz Wagman, as well as the loyal toast to the State of Israel from one of our impressive ORT JUMP Programme graduates, Avigayil Rowe.
A surprise presentation for long-standing trustee Mark Mishon followed, as ORT UK trustee and World ORT Deputy President, Simon Alberga thanked him for 42 years of dedication to the organisation.
There was also much excitement as an auction to win a week’s stay at a luxury villa in Jamaica raised £8,500.
The evening concluded with some fabulous entertainment from Jeremy Sassoon and MOJO, as guests clapped along to renditions of familiar tunes penned by Jewish artists.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a wonderful event, raising an incredible £350,000 for our students in Ukraine, across the ORT global network and here in the UK.
