The ORT UK Annual Lunch took place last Thursday (13/6/19) at the beautiful home of Sir Sydney and Lady Rosa Lipworth CBE. Lady Irene Hatter welcomed guests and a delicious meal was served.

Guest speaker, award-winning novelist Bart van Es, enthralled the audience with the story of a little girl named Lien, who is the subject of his award-winning biography, The Cut Out Girl. Guests were fascinated by his exploration into the life of Lien, born into a Jewish family in the Netherlands during Nazi occupation, and taken in by Bart’s own grandparents for safety. The talk was followed by a lively Q&A, with guests eager to have their questions answered about both the novel and the history of antisemitism in the Netherlands.

The event concluded with a raffle prize draw, with an array of fabulous treats for the winners, while everyone received a signed copy of The Cut Out Girl.

The lunch raised over £36,000, which will help ORT UK make an Impact Through Education.
