ORT UK is delighted to announce the appointment of Annette Kurer as Chair of ORT UK’s Board of Trustees.

Annette steps up from her role as Vice Chair, replacing Simon Alberga, who will remain as an ORT UK trustee and Deputy President of World ORT.

“I am thrilled and extremely proud to be the new Chair of ORT UK,” said Annette. “ORT is an esteemed organisation, whose work is to educate, support and mentor disadvantaged students to be independent and stand on their own two feet as they reach adulthood. I am passionate about creating greater awareness of the organisation and engaging a wider audience to ensure that ORT UK raises funds for international projects for less fortunate students from around the world. I also want to expand our efforts nationally and inclusively to educate our next generation to become self-reliant individuals.”

As a global leadership consultant and motivational speaker who founded Ark Consultants in 2004, Annette was immediately drawn to ORT, explaining that its mission to support people to fulfil their potential, “completely aligns with my core values and work ethic.” She has been actively involved with the organisation over the past few years, facilitating Professional Women’s Network events as well as delivering training sessions to ORT JUMP mentors and mentees.

Taking on this new responsibility during the Covid-19 Pandemic, Annette is determined to ensure that ORT UK works harder than ever to support ORT’s international educational provision.

“In ORT UK’s 100th year, we have seen how globally students’ education has suffered in an unimaginable way,” said Annette. “We need to come together to support them through training, mentoring and networking, to overcome the challenges the pandemic has presented to them.”

Dan Rickman, CEO of ORT UK said, “It has been my great pleasure to get to know and work alongside Annette over the last two years since joining ORT UK. Annette has already demonstrated her ability to help us grow as an organisation through her work developing ORT JUMP and our Professional Women’s Network. Annette and I are very much aligned in our vision for how ORT UK can continue to grow our influence in the UK, whilst continuing to raise valuable funds for our students across the globe. I can’t wait to work together in 2021, as we look to further enhance the work of ORT UK.”

Dan Green, Director General & CEO of World ORT added, “I am delighted that Annette is stepping up as Chair of ORT UK and wish her much success in this fantastic communal role. I know Annette cares passionately about education and giving young people opportunities to fulfil their potential. I am excited about ORT UK’s future and know that with Annette, CEO Dan Rickman and the wonderful ORT UK staff, the future looks very bright.”
