ORT-JUMP 2017/18

Posted on Thursday 30th November 2017

ORT-JUMP has launched, once again, with a record number of new sign-ups! With so many wonderful success stories from the past eight years, our mentor scheme has seen its popularity soar. Now with a total of 11 schools involved in our flagship domestic programme, including four local to us in Camden, we were inundated with well over 300 applications.

Students have now been paired with our fantastic volunteer mentors, who work in the industry that our mentees aspire to join. This year, we have our regular mix of budding doctors, lawyers, bankers, engineers and psychologists. But we’ve also managed to match students in more niche subjects, such as biochemistry, product app development and computer animation. If our students have their sights set on a particular field, we’ll always try to find a practising professional.

During November, our programme coordinator Mia Lyons, ensured that both students and mentors completed full training. Led by specialist life coach Elizabeth Marmur, participants were delivered an informative guide to the scheme, ensuring everyone completes the programme successfully and receives the maximum benefit from this unique opportunity.

Mentors and mentees are currently busy arranging their first of five one-to-one meet-ups, where they will discuss subjects such as CV writing and what to expect from the profession, take a tour of the workplace and even attend a meeting together.

We are very excited to receive the students' two pieces of written work, which they will submit during the process.  The first is a profile of their mentor and for the second, we ask for a summary of the programme and to detail what they have gained from the experience.  The winners will be announced at the ORT-JUMP graduation on 9th July 2018.

Good luck to everyone involved in ORT-JUMP 2017/18. Here’s to another successful year, paving the way for the next generation of industry experts!
