Join us to hear Josh Levs, UN global champion of gender equality; Financial Times top 10 male feminist and award-winning journalist and author.

Josh will be speaking on the importance of challenging workplace stigmas and why men are crucial allies in the fight for gender equality. We will also hear about how paid ‘family leave’ will make society and business a better place and the story of how and why he sued CNN for better paternity leave!

The event will be a fantastic opportunity to hear from a world renowned speaker and commentator as well as a chance to, learn, share and network with other professional women from a variety of industries and sectors

ORT-JUMP GRADUATION with guest speaker, Director of BBC News & Current Affairs, James Harding

ORT-JUMP are delighted to announce that the annual Graduation Reception for students in the 2016 cohort will take place on Tuesday 28th June at 6.30pm.

We are excited to be holding this years event at JW3.

Students, parents and mentors will have the unique opportunity to hear from James Harding, Director of BBC News & Current Affairs.

Students who produce the best ORT-JUMP files will win an award and all students who attend will receive a graduation certificate. 

This event is compulsory for students on the ORT-JUMP Programme.

 

 

 James Harding joined the BBC as Director of News and Current Affairs in August 2013.

 Prior to this appointment James was Editor of The Times from December 2007 to December 2012, having joined the paper in 2006 as Business & City Editor. James worked at the Financial Times for several years, as Washington bureau chief from 2002-2004 and before that as the media editor. Between 1996 and 1999, he was a correspondent in China, where he opened the Shanghai bureau for the FT – the first European newspaper to open an office in the city since the 1949 revolution. Born in London in 1969, James studied History at Trinity College, Cambridge. He speaks Japanese, Chinese, French and German.

Friends of ORT Bridge Day

The Friends of ORT Bridge Day is always a popular event in the ORT calendar, so book early to avoid dissapointment! 

This will be the  Friends of ORT 19th annual Bridge Day and will be held in the London Marriot Hotel in Regents Park.

The format of the day is Registration & Refreshments at 10.30am with Bridge commencing at 11.00am prompt.  Buffet Lunch will be served and the day should conclude at approx 3.00pm.

We are mainly running Duplicate Bridge, however for those who would prefer Rubber Bridge, this will also be avaliabe providing you can make up a table fo 4 players.

 

ORT UK JACK ROSE GOLF CHALLENGE

Tuesday, September 8, 2015 - 08:00 to 15:30

Once again, ORT UK will be hosting the Jack Rose Golf Challenge in the idyllic surrounds of Coombe Hill Golf Club, one of the top 100 courses in the UK and rated #72 in England.

The competition will be a Stableford with teams of four, off full handicap ( max 28 for gents & 36 for ladies) with ladies playing off their own stroke index.  Teams may be mixed.  

Prizes will be awarded to the first two teams (best two scores each hole), as well as a prize for the overall best Ladies team.

Registration with refreshments will commence at 8.00am with a shotgun start at 9.30am.  

The day will conclude with a delicious buffet lunch and prize giving as well as a Raffle with fantastic prizes!

 

 

Friends of Ort Summer Lunch 2015

Friends of Ort are hosting their Annual Summer Lunch on Monday 11 May with guest speaker Barbara Winton, author and daughter of Sir Nicholas Winton.  

Barbara's remarkable book "If it's Not Impossible...The Life of Sir Nicholas Winton" tells the inspiring story of how her father saved the lives of 669 Czech children from the hands of the Nazis.  The fortuitous find of his scrapbook some 50 years later, ensured the world learnt of the heroic endeavours of this incredible man, also known as  'The British Oskar Schindler'.

There were hardly any computers in the school two years ago but now in our new science lab the teachers help me achieve my dreams. I came from a difficult family background and being in the boarding school has helped me to turn my life around and focus on my studies. Thank you for everything you have done for me and my friends at this school."
  • Hodaya and Yasmin both dream of becoming doctors. Luckily, they're studying at the World ORT Kadima Mada Kfar Silver school near Ashkelon, Israel, which thanks to YOUR support, has brand new chemistry labs. No wonder it's their favourite lesson! "When we first came, the paint was coming off the walls and chairs were broken. The new classrooms help us learn better, because the teachers have better facilities and the room is more comfortable, making it easier to concentrate in class."
